Is It A Sin To Makeout?

Let’s be honest. If you are a Christian who is dating or engaged, you are probably asking yourself this question right now. The Bible doesn’t answer every question we have outright (frustrating, huh?). But it does give us guidelines for our life. If you are a Christian who is considering boundaries with him or her, or even if you’re already hot and heavy, here is what I would ask you...

Two Question To Ask Yourself:

QUESTION 1 - DOES THIS MAKE ME WANT TO SIN LESS

The goal physically should be to date in a way that helps you wait for marriage.

Making out is supposed to lead somewhere. Somewhere good. Somewhere really, really good. Somewhere God made to be protected by marriage. And the Bible says that sex/sexual intimacy outside of marriage is sin (Gen. 2:24, Eph. 5:3). So, what is making out causing you to want to do? Read your Bible, of course? Right...

QUESTION 2 - DOES THIS HELP ME WAIT FOR MARRIAGE?

Like we said above. Sex is for marriage. And waiting for that wedding day is so worth it. Dating for any period of time before the wedding day is incredibly hard. So when you are setting your physical boundaries, set them up to help you, not hurt you. The goal physically should be to date in a way that helps you wait for marriage.

If the answers to both of these question are yes, then go for it.

But if either of the answers are no, then you’d better pump the brakes, get some accountability, and stay out of dark rooms.
